WHAT ARE WE AIMING FOR?

A top of the morning to you all on this first day of homeschooling for CEIP Octavus.

First let's remind ourselves of what we are trying to work towards.  These are our goals:
  • Write neatly and clearly for the reader to understand
  • Have work completed and well presented
  • Spell most key words correctly - spelling test
  • Write simple sentences to express common everyday situations
  • Read with increasing confidence, speed and accuracy
  • Listen to questions and respond (orally) appropriately.
  • Develop further decoding skills to read previously unseen words (soft c/hard c  - soft g/hard g)
  • Participatein class disscussions, presentations and debates etc.
  • Maintain attention for increasingly longer periods of time
  • Develop and broaden vocabulary through reading, watching TV ...

Also
  • The children are learning to recognize their mistakes in their own work.
  • The children are learning to use present tense and simple past tense verbs.
  • The children are learning to write longer sentences with the correct structure.
  • The children are widening their knowledge of root words, prefixes and suffixes.

And there's more!  Children should become increasingly aware of, and pocess a greater understanding of GRAMMAR TERMINOLOGY
